ALEKSANDRA KOPFF
My drawings arise from everyday events and biographical ones. Their origins can be anything. I draw when I want to escape or because I feel driven to do so by an inner need or dilemma. I don’t often have a pre-conceived idea about the work to be done, only a vague feeling that I try to express outwardly and which then usually ends up defining itself until forming a series. The result varies according to my mood: it can be detail-oriented or gestural or both of these. Sometimes I try to keep the form from becoming defined too early; I often also make use of graphic automatism and doodling. I try to communicate through drawing what I find difficult to say in another way.
